UPLAND — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Upland’s Public Works project directory identifies 19th Street Reconstruction as a project in the design phase. The city held its first community meeting on June 9, 2026, at Magnolia Recreation Center, seeking feedback before advancing the street’s proposed changes.
What residents should know
Materials posted online include the presentation from that meeting, a map showing residents’ comments, a consultant memo about street trees and a traffic engineering memo addressing potential all-way-stop controls and measures to calm traffic. These are planning resources, not proof that the changes have been approved or constructed.
Transportation design can involve tradeoffs: changing lane layouts or intersections may improve one movement while affecting turning patterns, parking or travel times for others. Tree preservation, storm drainage and pedestrian access also matter when rebuilding a neighborhood corridor.
Residents near 19th Street can review the city’s engineering documents and submit location-specific observations to Public Works. A project listed as ‘in design’ should not be confused with an announced road closure or a confirmed completion date.
The city maintains an online project directory, which should be checked for newer drawings, public meetings and any forthcoming construction contract.
